Well, What Can I say this was my second go round and I still love this book and I'm so glad that I decided to reread it sooner than later.

This book follows Tristian who learns that he's a Merman and while internally freaking out also thinks why couldn't he be something less girly like a werewolf. I like his sense of humor in face of learning that he's something not human.

But of all the creatures in my mom's fairy-tale books, she had to go and be the girliest? Come on!

I feel like he came out on the chill side of things while learning what he was but he still had the right amount of WTF is happening here panicky feelings. Overall I feel like he was just excited to learn about his other side of the family and connecting with them.

Then there's Kurt and Thalia who are a brother and sister duo who kind of helped him with his journey into this new world. Kurt is stiff but likable and I feel like he has a dry sense of humor. While his sister Thalia is just so interested in everything in this new environment and is slightly adorable in her innocence where this new environment is concerned at least.

There there's Layla who is Tristian's best friend from childhood and she's stubborn and loyal and won't quit until she finds out what's going on with her best friend.

Now she and Tristian have a "will they or won't they" type of vibe going on, BUT this leads to some irritating and oh please STOP conversations and actions which I felt was the worse this book had to offer and the only thing that really irritated me about this book.

There are some other characters I liked, but I'll let you met them yourselves but they were all very interesting their own right.

Overall I felt like this was an excellent start to the journey Tristian is on. We get to spend time with him, his family and his friends and see what drives him forward and many seeds were planted that I'm excited to see grow. I loved the author's writing style. Her turn of phrase and descriptions were poetry like in this book and I just wanted to highlight everything and I look forward to seeing how it all turns out.

The magic hums in my veins, wanting to be released, craving water the way I also crave air, and I wonder if one of those needs is ever going to be greater than the other.

First off the cover.
I have much love for it.
It's simple and intricate all at once.

Now on to the story.
From the first sentence.
When the words,

I didn't stop giving hand jobs because I wasn't good at it. I stopped giving hand jobs because I was the best at it.

are said I was hooked.

The main character is a roll with the punches type. Which considering her life is not surprising. She's currently pretending to be a psychic so when this woman, Susan come to her saying has a haunted house what she initially see's as an easy "pacify the rich woman with too much time on her hands and make easy money" job may turn out to be all too real.

This is a short story so I don't want to say too much except I ended up really liking it and the way she spun the story keep pulling me in and kept me guessing long after the book was over, but there were a few mishaps along the way and even opened ended stories need certain thing fleshed out.

This was my first Gillian Flynn book and I'm definitely looking forward to my second.

In the end I gave it 4/5 stars and for full disclosure I got this book for review in exchange for honest review from "Blogging For Books".

Now where do I begin?

This book follows Zack Lightman who is a gamer and pop culture enthusiast. In this world there's this game called Armada a popular online flight simulator in which the players must protect earth from alien invaders.
One day while looking out the window in class he see's a flying saucer just like one the invading aliens use in Armada. No he's not losing his mind like he think he his. The aliens are all too real and his skills in the game Armada are about to come in handy.

I loved Zack his thought process is sometimes how I think. Relating situations to things seen in movies, TVShows, and what I've read in books. I also really enjoyed the relationship he had with his mother.
Despite things they were really close and it was nice to read about.

"You can do great things. She looked me in the eyes. You know that, right?

I felt thought that besides Zach most of the other character's didn't get enough screen time. I mean I liked them well enough from the brief time we get to spend with them. It's just so much stuff happened in such a short amount of time. I felt like it should have been drawn out a little more and It definitely should have been a longer book.

Then of course there were the 80's pop culture references everywhere. I heard a lot of people were annoyed by this but I didn't mind them I understand why the main character was attached and it made me nostalgic sometimes. Other times I didn't know what he was talking about it but it sounded interesting enough for me to go look it up and occasionally add things to my To-Watch list Lol.

Also some of the technical details for the ships kind of bogged things down for me. Would have been nice to have some sketches occupying each explanation.

Overall I really enjoyed this novel. There's potential there for a sequel, but still works as a stand alone. Definitely think this would make an awesome movie if done CORRECTLY. There's so much more I want to talk about, but I don't want to spoil anyone.

In the end gave it 4/5 stars and For full disclosure I got this book for review in exchange for honest review from "Blogging For Books".

Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09309006266591979346noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6083081275565761979.post-57260496395463877872015-05-14T15:17:00.002-07:002015-05-14T15:17:29.795-07:00Book Review: More Than This by Jay McLean

Even now just thinking about everything that went on in this book makes my emotions exhausted.

Lets start with the plot.

On Mikayla prom night she discovers that her boyfriend of four years and her best friend since the fifth grade has been sleeping together behind her back for two years. On the same night she discovers this she meets Jake who see's everything go down and he ask's her if she would like to go to his school prom with him.

This book takes you on a roller coaster of emotions. So many life changing things happen to Mikayla in one night.

This book has two points of view Mikayla's and Jake which I like. I like knowing which each person in the relationship is thinking through out the book..

Mikayla,
So much happens to this character that I'm surprised that she isn't catatonic through the whole thing. Thank god she has Jake, he is as cliched as it might sound "her light in the darkness" watching their relationship unfold as you on edge wondering what could possibly happen next. No matter what happens she keeps on going and you have to admire her for that.

Jake,
He's not perfect. Sometimes he got frustrated because of her mix signals she's giving which stemmed from her own insecurities about not being good enough for him and also wondering if she had the right to be happy in the wake of the tragedy that as befallen her. I liked Jake and at first I though he was going to be "too perfect" which can be irritating in and of it self but he had some stuff in his past that crops up as well as his jealousy issues. Although they both had that at times. He never stopped fighting for them and I loved that about him.

I love Jake's circle of friend who just welcome her with open arms and who we'll apparently see later with their own books. I especially look forward to seeing what happens with Logan who I just felt for since he was the only single one and he was feeling like a 7th wheel plus you can just sense some turmoil going on with him under the surface. Also Lucy who was her Book Buddy was just adorable and sassy.

Now there is a LOT of drama in this book, some may to much but I quite enjoyed although once in a while I was like could you give the characters a break. Sometimes I got really frustrated with Mikayla but I calmed myself down by reminding myself about everything that had happen to her in such a short time.

It was fast pace and never boring and so much stuff went on and I don't want to spoil anything for you so I wont say much except this is a journey you must take yourself.

I gave it 5/5 stars overall.

Full Disclosure:

I received this book from Netgalley in exchange for my honest opinion.

This books follow nine different characters' stories that are affected - some small, some huge - by the death of a boy named Kevin.

We see a person who has never heard of Kevin, someone who only knew of him, old friends, current friends, new friends, and family.

"Could he have imagined the ripple effect it would have?"
-Pg.100 HC

We see people mourn and reevaluate their lives, even though they didn't know him.

As with most books with short stories, I feel like you're always going to like some stories better then the rest. However, the fact that it all ties together and follows many stories yet, at the same time one story, was really intriguing.

We glean information about Kevin in most of the stories - like pieces of a puzzle. We learn who he was and how life shaped him. Dead at 19 and some can't bring themselves to accept what is going on.

I loved some stories, liked others and only thought one or two were meh. I didn't hate any of the stories.

This book showed how far reaching death can be. Especially in this age of internet and social media.

"How does one deal with a friends death?" A brothers death? A child's death?

"He deserved a life. And who doesn't make mistakes? Just Once? Everyone makes mistakes. Just once."
-Pg.51
I didn't like all of the characters (one in particular) but at the end of the day we learned more about Kevin which was kind of the point.

""You used to work there?"
"Yeah".
"What happened?"
"Lots"."
-PG.133

I can't really say much without getting into spoiler territory. Which would be easy to do, since this is not only about how many people can be affected by one death or how people deal with death - there's also the mystery of how Kevin died. It was very ambiguous although I feel like after getting a few pieces of the puzzle you can put it together fairly quickly.

In the end I gave this book 4/5 stars. I got this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

This book follows Mark Watney an astronaut who is one of the first to walk on Mars and will be the first to probably die there. An unexpected dust storm comes he get injured and his crew is forced to leave him thinking he is dead but he miraculously survived. Not that it will do him much good being on Mars with a very limited food supply.

So in the synopsis on the book it says its a mix between Apollo 13 meets Cast Away and they should add the fact that this guy is FREAKING Macgyver (If You Don't Know Who That Is, I Weep For You) on Mars.

THIS IS Macgyver in action:

Need I show more? I think not.

If you wish to continue with the Richard Anderson (He Played Macgyver) theme then you can cross him with Jack O'Neill (Have You Not Seen Stargate either? The Horror. I Weep For You More) if only because of the space and actor connection.

First Off I loved Mark. Even though he's in this difficult (Understatement Of The Year) situation. He manges to keep a sense of humor. There are moments of course where he can't help it but he refuses to let the darkness swallow him whole. He tries to hold on to hope no matter what.

And for fear of spoilers I can't say much more other then this is VERY fast paced there is always something going on and there's not really any dull moments. Unless of course you're not a Math/Science person. There are points where he's explaining stuff and I barely get it but it didn't ruin the enjoyment of the book for me.

All in all I gave it 5/5 Stars and For full disclosure I got this book for review in exchange for honest review from "Blogging For Books".

This book follows Britt. One day while she and her friend Korbie on their way to Korbie's parents vacation home in the mountains, it starts to snow unexpectedly. They get trapped on the road and decide to try and find shelter... which they do. But, the people who occupy the cabin are wanted fugitives and take them as hostages.

So let me start out with the pros of this book... Amazingly, I do have some.

1) The cover: I love it
2) I liked the writing style.
It was fast paced read in the way of a train wreck: you can't tear your eyes away from it. Those are basically the only nice things to say about this book.

Now for the cons:

The main character Britt, is a self-proclaimed daddy's girl, who expects the men in her life to do everything for her. It's quite annoying.

Britt is the absolute worst - I mean, she spent more time thinking about her love life then anything. I mean, it's not like she even really had one considering the fact that Calvin (her ex) who she kept dreaming about dumped her 7-8 months prior. I'm not saying that he's not going to rescue you but you need to be realistic. In between day dreams of Calvin, she begins falling for Mason - one of her kidnappers and I'm just like >_< How can you be so ready to start your life with this other guy and yet be oh so in love with this guy who you've known for a day and who kidnapped you and don't give me anything about "Stockholm Syndrome" okay because I think it takes more than one day to manifest and a whole lot more personal time with your kidnapper.

Don't even get me started on Korbie (who is Calvin's little sister and Britt's best friend), who I give the title of the Stupidest Character in this book and believe me that is quite the achievement considering all the stupid people in this book... Which is everyone. There is not one smart person.

Then there are the kidnappers: Mason and Shaun.

Let's start with Shaun, who may be one of the least stupid people but that's because he may be more unstable than stupid.

Then there's Mason who is Britt's quote-unquote love interest... Though with the way she was drooling over Calvin and flirting with Shaun, it's hard to find a guy in this book who is not Britt's love interest. Mason is just so stupid - which is nothing new. The most that I can say about him is that he runs hot and cold with Britt but considering he's a kidnapper and he can act pretty much anyway he wants, there's really not much I can say about him... Except that he seems to like Britt but he's trying to force himself not to like her. There's more going on underneath the surface but see, the thing that we should all remember is - Britt, he's a kidnapper so him liking you in a romantic way might not necessarily be a good thing for various reasons...

There is more that I have to say but I can't without having spoilers... so, I'll probably leave a link to my Good Reads so you can read my spoiler review(Whenever Its Up) if you wish. I gave it 1 star in the end and that's being nice.
This book follows this teenage girl Isadora. Her parents are the God and Goddess, Osiris and Isis respectively. While they are immortal beings she is not and this knowledge is basically the problem of the whole book. It's just teenage angst with some mythology thrown in.

That's not to say I didn't like the book or more accurately grow to like the book. I say that because the main characters is annoying and listening to her yap the whole book was no fun in the least.

Let's start with the world. Where in the modern world. It starts off in Egypt but most of the book takes place in America.

Isadora who feels like her parents don't love her or even care she exist. Desperately wants to leave and manages to do so when her mother is having a vulnerable time. She is I'm going to say once again. Annoying, Whiny, Self-centered, and at times arrogant. It's not like you don't see where she's coming from but at the same time it all could have been solved by I don't know actually talking to her parents but of course even though she's supposed to be smart this is a thing she actively avoids. Although the talking thing could be said about most plot lines in books in general but she really rubbed me the wrong way and I felt no sympathy for her. Her parents, siblings, and friends on the other hand I have massive sympathy for. Although how she even mange to get friends with that attitude is a miracle in and of itself.

Although towards the end she kind of pulls her head out of her...you know where I was going. It still didn't excuse the first half of the book where all I did was hope she would find a cliff and walk off of it. As you can tell I had strong feelings.

Now she manipulates/convinces her parents to send her to live with her brother Sirius who's in his 30's and married. He seemed nice and had a good relationship with their parents much to her surprise. She seemed to think that just because she did not have a good relationship with her parents (her own doing) that all her siblings had to feel and act the same way she did.

I can't say to much about the other characters because while Isadora had a little character development the others had none really.

There was Taylor who she meets when volunteering at the museum. She was perky and nice. So was her boyfriend Scott.

Then there's the love interest Ry who was interesting as well. They didn't go much into detail with anyone though and while I love the snippets of learning of Egyptian Mythology. The book was rushed. There was a mystery of some sorts that was wrap-up fast and could have been done better. This was more like a teen drama with misunderstandings around every corner.

All in all I did like the book but didn't love it. It had a lot potential but fell short and that saddens me. I will be checking out the authors other books Paranormalcy & Mind Games because I loved her writing style and just some of the quotes I had to update my Goodreads were amazing and Occasionally I really liked Isadora's humour. Those moments of liking her happened more the toward the end of the book though.

In the end I liked the book, But it didn't really deliver on some of the things it promised. So 2/5 stars.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09309006266591979346noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6083081275565761979.post-9808815532461476972014-09-01T20:22:00.001-07:002014-09-01T20:25:31.513-07:00Book Review: Lover Unknown by Ellie Kincade

I would like to say that I got this from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

This book follows this girl, Hadley, who gets a invitation to a mysterious yet well known sex club called Club Q.

I don't have much to say about this book. It was short and it was okay.
As far as erotica goes, I've read better but the plot was interesting - just not well executed.

Hadley seems like she's fun, down to earth, and willing to try new things. So this club invite is perfect for her in a way.

But, when we get to the end, we learn something that had me rolling my eyes a little bit.

I do wonder how this will turn out in the end, since this is a first book in a series. However, I felt like it probably would have been better as a long stand alone novel.

In the end, I gave it 2/5 stars. Maybe, once all the installments are out, I'll read them back to back. But it's not a priority.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09309006266591979346noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6083081275565761979.post-18945326233069362642014-08-04T14:12:00.001-07:002014-08-04T14:12:26.313-07:00Book Review: How I Live Now by Meg Rosoff

This novel is set in an a slightly alternate and futuristic world. This world has been on the brink of World War Three for at least the last 5 years. In this book we follow Daisy, whose father sends her away to go stay with her Aunt and cousins from her mothers side. Daisy has never met this family because of issues she has had between her and her stepmother

Fifteen-year-old Daisy travels from upsate New York to the Engligh country side, where her phone can hardly get any reception. She's greeted at the airpot by Edmond, one of four new cousins, and he also later develops into her love interest. When I first read the synopsis it was very obvious to me that this would happen between them. If that sort of thing (romance between cousins) bothers you then you probably don't want to read this book. Although the author doesn’t put too much emphasis on the romance, there is a whole family for the reader to meet and fall in love with.

There is Edmond twin Issac who doesn’t speak to anyone, and is really good with animals. He is so passionate about animals that their surrounding neighbours will bring their animals to him to take care of. There is also the youngest of her cousins, Piper, who has a personality mix between Edmund and Issac. She is also very good with animals, but lacks in the way of being able to connect the same way to people.

Then there is Osbert, who is the oldest brother. He has an attitude that portrays him as one who is “all high and mighty”. This is a guy who feels as though he is too old to hang around with his younger siblings and cousin, but also feels he has the duty as the older brother to take care of them. Finally, there is Edmond and when I think of him the word mysterious comes to mind. He seems to have a strong sense of what is going on and what everyone seems to be thinking.

Daisy, is a little lost at the start which can be understandable going fron New York to England and to go from being a single child to now living with a big family. Then the war that had been threatening to start for years finally happened, and the children end up being left alone in their house. They were mostly cutoff from the outside world, that is until the war lands right on the front steps and they can no longer ignore it.

I liked Daisy because she was sarcastic, witty and strong no matter what happened. Yeah, she breaks down every now and then, but being in a war it is to be expected. She was always able to pick herself back up and keep going, which I liked. This novel started off kind of weird but interesting, and went on to completely capture me. That is all I am going to leave you with because it is so short and anything else might lead to spoilers.

I gave it a 5/5 stars and I’m hoping to see the movie soon because I heard good things about it. Just from watching the trailer I can see that there are going to be some changes made between the book and the movie, although with any adaptation I have learned to expect it.

Let me know if you have read this book and how you felt it about it, or if you plan on getting it. You can also let me know if you've seen the movie, what you thought, and if you now plan to read the book.
First off, I would like to say that I received a copy of this novel from Netgalley in exchange for my honest review.

Book Synosis: Taken from goodreads.
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/22632889-a-song-for-ella-grey

"I'm the one who's left behind. I'm the one to tell the tale. I knew them both...knew how they lived and how they died."

Claire is Ella Grey's best friend. She's there when the whirlwind arrives on the scene: catapulted into a North East landscape of gutted shipyards; of high arched bridges and ancient collapsed mines. She witnesses a love so dramatic it is as if her best friend has been captured and taken from her. But the loss of her friend to the arms of Orpheus is nothing compared to the loss she feels when Ella is taken from the world. This is her story - as she bears witness to a love so complete; so sure, that not even death can prove final.
___________________________________________________________________

After reading the synopsis for this story, I was instantly intrigued. A Greek retelling about Orpheus? Check. A tragic love story? Check. A beautiful cover? Check. These are all elements that I love in a story and for a book I would love to see on my shelf one day. Unfortunately, this book did not live up to my expectations for it, nor did it turn out how I expected.

This book takes place from the point of view of Claire, Ella Grey's best friend. We learn early on that she is in love with Ella romantically, however from what I could gather, Ella knows this but does not reciprocate those feelings.
The Bad:

The formatting of the kindle book was just cringe worthy. I’m usually able to ignore a lot of errors, but in this case it was just not happening. There were many grammatical errors such as “maybe" being spelled “mebbe”. Now, I know that this book takes place in England but I’m pretty sure that it is misspelled regardless of environment. Something else was that they kept saying "Biddy" a lot. After much confusion I looked it up, and apparently it is another term for “Bloody". I don't understand why they didn't just use “bloody" or if maybe they just misspelled this as well. I hope that most of these errors will be fixed in the finished copy.
The Good:

Despite everything, I did love the writing style and I found it to be very lyrical. Usually when there’s a Greek retelling it's about Posiden, Zeus, Hades,Hercules, Etc.Etc.Etc, so it was nice to see something about Orphesus.

Final Thoughts:

I liked Claire but didn’t fall in love with her character. There wasn’t anything really special that we learned about her nor significant character development. The most a reader could learn about her was that her parents lether do anything, she has a habit of leaving her homework untill the last minute and that she loves Ella.

Now, what we know about Ella is that she was adopted after being left on some steps as a baby, and that she's a dreamer, Claire's her best frined and she loves Orphesus.

Orphesus is a wander, and can sing so beautifully that nature itself wants to listen and he loves Ella Grey.
Some of these facts from these characters are interesting, but never really grow into anything. There were also a lot of secondary chracters that a reader might not care much for, and who did incredbly stupid things.

In the end I gave this book 2/5 stars because I generally liked it, although it could have been better. There were pictures included in the novel from time to time, that I am sure would have been better appreciated in a physical copy. I may pick up the physical copy somewhere down the line to see how I feel about it then.

*This book is not yet relased it comes out October 2nd 2014.
Grey-Sun

I got this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

The story of one young man crossing the burning bridge between innocence and experience, Spring's Fall is a narrative dramatic poem comprised of several stand-alone poems about fitting in and falling out, finding oneself and losing oneself, and discovering the meanings of life, love, and identity. An unusual but familiar coming-of-age narrative, Spring's Fall is a poem written in an unfashionable style that represents both the uniqueness and awkwardness felt by many adolescents trying to find their place in a world seemingly made for everyone else but them.

-Synopsis taken from goodreads.

This book is supposed to follow a storyline about someone growing up or thats what I gleamed from the synopsis.

Though out this book I catch fleeting glances of a storyline but I didn't grasp it. So it was very fortunate that the epilogues basically explains everything I read. Im torn between thinking that this is a good thing and a bad thing. On one hand Im glad that I know exactly what the storyline was and what happen but I felt like I should have been able to grasp this without needing the Epilogue.

There are a few turn of phrases that I connected with and enjoyed. (Ill Link my good reads so you can read my updates)
https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/980719380

Now I always believe with poetry novels that it's hit or miss. Poetry books are more subjective than other genres, but this story being told in verse just did not live up the hopes I had in it.
In the end I gave the book one star, as I did like the author's style of writing. I am hoping to pick up another of his works and read it soon.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09309006266591979346noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6083081275565761979.post-15903626517756350652014-05-15T06:19:00.000-07:002014-05-15T06:32:15.070-07:00Book Review: Cain's Blood by Geoffrey Girard

(After finishing Project Cain (which I loved and reviewed - the link will be below), I of course needed to know more. I specifically wanted to know more of the gory details and this adult version Cain’s Blood provided those aspects.

For those of you who don't know Cain's Blood & Project Cain are companion novels, and take place at the same time but through different points of view. Project Cain is a young adult novel, and tended to not get into too much of the gory details. On the other side, Cain's Blood is an adult novel and doesn't shy away from these things as much.

I won’t be spoiling either of these books in this review (in my opinion) so you may read on.

Now while in Project Cain we followed the story of the government cloning infamous serial killers and what they wanted to do with them. In this novel the government raised these clones in different environments and situations, in order to learn more about Nature vs Nurture. In Project Cain we saw everything solely through the eyes of one of the clone's of Jeffrey Dhamer.
In this book, Cain’s Blood, we get a far more reaching view of the events taking place.

We get to see the point of views of the victims, various clones, various scientist, and of course the higher ups. Mainly though we see things from Shawn Castillos point of view, who was hired to capture six runaway clones who are currently on a murder spree.

I enjoyed being in Castillos head and seeing what his thoughts and interpretations were going through his mind. He's a former black op's agent who thought he's seen everything, and was sure in his beliefs. He had come to terms with some of the things the government does in order to insure the safety of his country, but in this novel he starts to question a few things.

We follow him as he and the clone he found (who is not part of the runaway six) embark on a cross country journey and find that there are even bigger secrets that neither had imagined.

Now this is an adult novel and in Project Cain, while certain things were alluded to here, we get all the gory details so if your not okay with that then just read Project Cain.

In the end I gave this a 5/5 stars because loved his his writing style and I hope to read more by this author one day.
This story follows Jeff Jacobson who's life is torn apart when his father sits him down and tell him he's a clone of Jeffrey Dahmer someone hes never heard of before now but he's apparently one of the most infamous series killer and then his father leaves him with a thousand dollars and drives away leaving him completely alone.

Now for the whole story were in Jeff's head and and we see everything through his eyes and we see him struggle with the knowledge of how he came into this life, his relationship with his father who just happened to be one of the scientist who made him and Shawn Castillo who works for DSTI the company behind his unusual birth.

While in the start I wasn't much of a fan of Jeff. Couldn't stand some of his decisions but since I've never been in such a situation what do I know.

I ended up empathizing with him and what he was going through. I worried for his sanity though.
Kind of hard not to as we journey along and watch him struggle about who he is and if his genes will determine who he supposed to be.

For this book the only other person we really meet is Castillo who is hired to track down 6 runaway clones.

Now Castillo seems nice enough I guess but since this is from Jeff's Point of view we mostly have to guess from his interactions with Jeff what type of person he is and we don't fully know what hes motives are where Jeff is concerned.

Which is why I'm glad there's a Companion novel from Castillo's point of view.(Which I ordered soon after reading this)

Now there was a lot serial killer name dropping. Some we were given more details on. Others not so much. We mostly get backgrounds about the who the runaway clones DNA came from.

Nature Vs Nurture. This is part of the reason Jeff and various other clones were made in the first place.
Even as he makes his own choices goes though his own up's and downs will his genetic's determine what he will become?

I gave this books 5/5 stars I really enjoyed this novel it was a quick fast read and I look forward to seeing things from Costillo's Pont of view.

Let me know if you've read it and what your thoughts are or if you plan to pick it up anytime soon.
A modern love story told through a series of dictionary-style entries is a sequence of intimate windows into the large and small events that shape the course of a romantic relationship.

Synopsis From GoodReads:https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/9279177-the-lover-s-dictionary

Apparently this book is based on David Levithan's own romantic relationship.

We follow this guy who goes through the alphabet and finds a word related to the situation of what his relationship is currently going through.

We follow as they meet for the first time , fall in love and and learn the meaning of the word trust. One of the main focuses of the book is how the main protagonist deals with the fact that his girlfriend cheated on him.

I only had one problem with this book and that was not knowing what some of the words meant but usually after reading what he wrote I could tell what he meant. Though other times I had to look up the meaning of the word to understand what he meant.

In the end I gave this book 5/5 and it was a nice quick read. If your planning to read this book comment down below and let me know.I'll leave you with one of my favorite passages from the book.
"recant, v.

I want to take back at least half of the “I love you”s, because
I didn't mean them as much as the other ones. I want to take
back the book of artsy photos I gave you, because you didn't
get it and said it was hipster trash. I want to take back what
I said about you being an emotional zombie. I want to take
back the time I called you “honey” in front of your sister and
you looked like I had just shown her pictures of us having
sex. I want to take back the wineglass I broke when I was mad,
because it was a nice wineglass and the argument would have
ended anyway. I want to take back the time we had sex in a
rent-a-car, not because I feel bad about the people who got
in the car after us, but because it was massively uncomfortable.
I want to take back the trust I had while you were away in
Austin. I want to take back the time I said you were a genius,
because I was being sarcastic and I should have just said
you’d hurt my feelings. I want to take back the secrets I told
you so I can decide now whether to tell them to you again. I
want to take back the piece of me that lies in you, to see if I
truly miss it. I want to take back at least half the “I love
you”s, because it feels safer that way.”Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09309006266591979346noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6083081275565761979.post-57148474142363641232013-09-27T11:15:00.001-07:002013-10-23T18:52:25.081-07:00We Discuss #5:Book Buying Turn Off's FT. DISCLAIMER: Don't read this review if you haven't read the first book. Witch Eyes. Which I did a review of Linked here : http://theforsaken707.blogspot.com/2013/07

So here we are again, oh how l'm going to hate when this series ends. The last book left off with characters discovering who Braden's father is, and also with Braden killing Lucien. Let the drama begin!

When this starts off Braden is overcome with guilt over killing Lucien. Adding onto to that Trey and Riley aren't speaking to him and Jade will only speak to him in secret.

I feel like during this book Braden continues to give Jason, His father, a hard time and personally I feel like that they really need to have a talk, so they can air some things out. I hope that their relationship can be resolved sometime during the third book, although I get the feeling it's probably not going to help at all. I get the feeling that something will explode big time.

Also, Trey and Braden's relationship is still in the "will they, or won't they', and I just feel the need to knock Trey upside his head once in a while. As soon as they seem to be getting closer, something seems to happen, and well, you can see where that thought was going.

One person who I was excited to see more of was Drew. He is still sarcastic and running his mouth off, but he also seems to be a loyal friend. I don't know what he's going to do in the end considering the fact that he hates both of the people in the feud, but I'm going to love finding out.

In this sequel, we get to see a little bit of Jade and Riley. We even get to learn a little bit more about the Drew and Jade thing, So I'm be interested to see what happens with these two in the future.

So in this book girls are disappearing in town and Braden instigates why and who. Also more titbits of his family past are coming out and I feel like in the third book its all going to come to a head.

Overall, I gave this book a 4/5 stars, because it was a page turner, and we get to see new interesting characters come into the story. People's loyalties are being tested, new alliances are being made while others seem to be breaking, and some of the things that happen will just leave you like O_O for quite a while. Michael is a gamer. And
like most gamers, he almost spends more time on the VirtNet than in the
actual world. The VirtNet offers total mind and body immersion, and it’s
addictive. Thanks to technology, anyone with enough money can
experience fantasy worlds, risk their life without the chance of death,
or just hang around with Virt-friends. And the more hacking skills you
have, the more fun. Why bother following the rules when most of them are
dumb, anyway?

But some rules were made for a reason. Some
technology is too dangerous to fool with. And recent reports claim that
one gamer is going beyond what any gamer has done before: he’s holding
players hostage inside the VirtNet. The effects are horrific—the
hosta
ges have all been declared brain-dead. Yet the gamer’s motives are a
mystery.

The government knows that to catch a hacker, you need a hacker.
And they’ve been watching Michael. They want him on their team.
But
the risk is enormous. If he accepts their challenge, Michael will need
to go off the VirtNet grid. There are back alleys and corners in the
system human eyes have never seen and predators he can’t even fathom—and
there’s the possibility that the line between game and reality will be
blurred forever.

Description taken from Goodreads.
http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/16279856-the-eye-of-minds

Micheal: I liked him a lot, He was laid back and like to do what a lot of us do, Hang out and eat with friends. Except he like to do it the VirtNet. Yes, you can eat food there. He's a little addicted to VirtNet and spends a considerably amount of time there. The only one he knows who spends more time there is his friend Bryson.

In the beginning of this book I questioned some of the choices made but I was able to look past them and enjoy the story. Michael is dedicated but starts asking the smart question a little to late. How much is he willing to sacrifice? And how will he react to the truth once revealed?

Now Michael has two friends joing him for this journey. Bryson who doesnt seem to have a filter from brain to mouth is someone who spends almost all there time in VirtNet. He's a little cocky throughout the book but I think he learns he's not exactly top dog thoughout the story. Then there's Sara: who is the one who keeps the two boys in line a little. Sort of like a mother figure and when there being oblivious, point out the obvious to them.

The friendship between the three is nice usually easy going and when horrible stuff happend they bonded together. Just because this doesn't take place in the real world doesn't mean there isn't any real danger. One of the most dangerous thing about the Cyber-Terrorist Kaine is that when he kills people in the VirtNet he's killing them in real life to.Which isn't something someone should be able to do. Plus there's the psychological damage they probably wont be getting over anytime soon.

I felt at times that we didn't get to know enough about Sarah and Bryson. I feel like Michael's character overshadowed the two of them a lot of times. I know he's the main character but it would have been nice to learn more about the other two. Maybe it will be different in the next book. Also they've never meet in real life so I wonder if the dynamic of the relationship's will change once that happens. Who Knows.

Despite all that I have high hopes for the second book.Reading about these three hacker friends hired to do something that the VirtNet security couldn't do was a real page turner and Kaine, Well you'll have to read to find out all about his sinister deeds. The sequels are definitely on my Pre-Order list. I gave this book a 4/5 stars and look forward to seeing how everything plays out in the upcoming books.
Wow, Where to start? The Cover Perhaps? I personally love it, and it actually has something to do with the book *Gasp* who would have thought that would be possible these days.

Moving on,

This book is about Braden a 17 year old boy who has a rare, legendary power that he calls "Witch Eyes". Witch Eye's give's a person the ability to see the world unfiltered. They can and I Quote: "Soak up everything like a sponge, See everything that ever happened in a place, to a person". There's more to the power but I think you guys got the point.

Braden who lives with his Uncle John, sets off by himself to learn more about his past and it land him in the City of Belle Dam. Where he is caught between two feuding witch families. Catherine Lansing and Jason Thorpe.

Braden who is revealed to Jason's son has been crushing on this boy Trey who turns out to be Catherine son.

Romeo and Juliet? We can only hope that their fates wont be as tragic. Especially considering Braden may be destined to kill him.

Moving on once again.

With all the lies, manipulation, and secrets going on. Who will come up on top? and Who is the driving force behind it all? Read to find out.

Braden: Is always on the going from the first moment he sets foot in this town. He wants to find out why he's drawn to this town and doesn't let much, Except from Trey, distract him from his goal. I liked that because I felt that characters forget how much danger they're in and do incredibly stupid and sloppy things. I didnt feel that way with Braden.

Uncle John: He raised Braden but his secrets are vast and I we only see the tip of the ice berg where his character is concerned. I would love to find out more about him in the future.

Trey: I like him and didn't like him all at once.Misguided fool.

There are of course a few more characters but I'll let you guys read and find them out for yourself.

I like the fact that while's there's romance its not the center of the story.Though I do hope for more romance in the future but I don't want a "Love Triangle" of any kind.

Insanity follows Adelaide Carmichael AKA Addy as she is brought into the Oakhill Institute kicking and screaming. She doesn't remember much of what happened. The only thing she remembers is that her and her boyfriend Damien Allen where in love and supposed to run away with one another and yet she ended up here. The question is Why?

This Cover is amazing.

So first off we have the main character Addy who is unreliable to say the least. I mean how can we now whats going if she doesn't. It's what makes the book interesting, piercing together whats more likely to be real and whats not.

We follow Addy in the time before coming to the Institute where she is experiencing first love with Damien. We follow the progression of their relationship as well as the deteriorating relationship she has with her father.

I liked the relationship between Addy and Damien. It was lovely and sweet. Though I felt at times we didn't get to learn more about Damien. Which was a shame, but then you have to remember that this is ultimately Addy's story.

We see the obstacles in there relationship from his mother to her drunken and abusive father.

Following their love story was interesting though I think we all know that it probably didn't end well just for the fact that she'd currently residing in Oakhill.

As we follow her in the past to see what lead to her to be locked up in the first place we also spend time with her in the institution in present day. We see how she interacts with the other members of Oakhill. We see her therapy sessions and her trying to get back her memory. All while trying to escape from the institute which has more secrets then she can ever imagine and a danger that's all to real

I found the story to be an interesting story about the complexity of the human mind and what it does to help preserve and help ones sanity.

This is the first book in a trilogy and I'm so excited to see what happens next.

Overall I gave this book a 5/5 stars.
It's currently $0.99 on Amazon Kindle

The story alternates between 3 points of view:

Sophie: Who was on her death-bed at the time and had already resigned herself to death. Has a tenuous lease on life. In the course of the story I feel like she gets a new lease on life and kind of comes into her own despite the dangers that await around every corner.

Then there's,

Declan: The classic bad boy with a heart of gold, he's a smart talker and someone who other people natural gravitate to and yet makes a lot of stupid decisions which is why he ended up in the hospital to began with.

and then there's,

Anat: Who's harsh and suspicious of everything and everyone. Didn't quite like her in the beginning but you grow to understand that the life she grew up in made her like this.

Over all I really liked this story it was interesting to see how people from different walks of life react to this given situation and One of the things that I really liked about this book is how well the characters were fleshed out and I felt that I really got to know them but I also found the story line fairly predictable and it reminded me of a T.V. from back in the 90's but I do like the direction the Author took with it and the Journey that each character had to take to coming to terms with what is exactly is going on

I like the ending because it gives you enough closure and yet I feel like if there are sequels in the future it wouldn't feel forced.

In the end I gave this book a 4/5 stars.
