Book Review: The Lover's Dictionary by David Levithan

A modern love story told through a series of dictionary-style entries is a sequence of intimate windows into the large and small events that shape the course of a romantic relationship.

Synopsis From GoodReads:https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/9279177-the-lover-s-dictionary

Apparently this book is based on David Levithan's own romantic relationship.

We follow this guy who goes through the alphabet and finds a word related to the situation of what his relationship is currently going through.

We follow as they meet for the first time , fall in love and and learn the meaning of the word trust. One of the main focuses of the book is how the main protagonist deals with the fact that his girlfriend cheated on him.

I only had one problem with this book and that was not knowing what some of the words meant but usually after reading what he wrote I could tell what he meant. Though other times I had to look up the meaning of the word to understand what he meant.

In the end I gave this book 5/5 and it was a nice quick read. If your planning to read this book comment down below and let me know.I'll leave you with one of my favorite passages from the book.

"recant, v.

I want to take back at least half of the “I love you”s, because
I didn't mean them as much as the other ones. I want to take
back the book of artsy photos I gave you, because you didn't
get it and said it was hipster trash. I want to take back what
I said about you being an emotional zombie. I want to take
back the time I called you “honey” in front of your sister and
you looked like I had just shown her pictures of us having
sex. I want to take back the wineglass I broke when I was mad,
because it was a nice wineglass and the argument would have
ended anyway. I want to take back the time we had sex in a
rent-a-car, not because I feel bad about the people who got
in the car after us, but because it was massively uncomfortable.
I want to take back the trust I had while you were away in
Austin. I want to take back the time I said you were a genius,
because I was being sarcastic and I should have just said
you’d hurt my feelings. I want to take back the secrets I told
you so I can decide now whether to tell them to you again. I
want to take back the piece of me that lies in you, to see if I
truly miss it. I want to take back at least half the “I love
you”s, because it feels safer that way.”

Most Wanted: Cruel Beauty & Stoker

Most Wanted:The Movies's, Books, & T.V. Shows That Will give me the FEELS!!!

So welcome to a new segment on my blog where I'm going to be telling you some of the things that I'm most excited for and want to get. Basically my wishlist. Some of the stuff will be already out and some will have yet to be released. Lets get started.

The 1st thing l'm excited for is:

Cruel Beauty By Rosamund Hodge:

This book is about Nyx a girl who has been betrothed since birth to the evil ruler of her kingdom. In order to escape her faith she plans to seduce and then kill him, which would break the 900 hundred year old curse he placed on her people, but she never planned on liking or even loving him.

I can't wait for this book, it seems like quite a conundrum and I would love to see how it's resolved.

  -For full synopsis check out:

  -Goodreads:

The 2nd Thing is:

Stoker ft. Mia Wasikowska,Nicole Kidman, and Matthew Goode.

Following the death of her father India's uncle Charlie comes to live with her and her mother.

You can check out the Trailer Here. I decided to go with the first one because the other trailers give more away.

This Movie seems like it's going to a psychological thriller of sorts. I can't wait to see it. It's currently already out.
You can find the movie here on DVD & Blu-Ray:

So these are just two of the things that I'm excited for. What are your thoughts? Leave a comment and let me know. Also tell me what are some of things your excited for?

Book Review: Demon Eyes by Scott Tracey

DISCLAIMER: Don't read this review if you haven't read the first book. Witch Eyes. Which I did a review of Linked here : http://theforsaken707.blogspot.com/2013/07

So here we are again, oh how l'm going to hate when this series ends. The last book left off with characters discovering who Braden's father is, and also with Braden killing Lucien. Let the drama begin!

When this starts off Braden is overcome with guilt over killing Lucien. Adding onto to that Trey and Riley aren't speaking to him and Jade will only speak to him in secret.

I feel like during this book Braden continues to give Jason, His father, a hard time and personally I feel like that they really need to have a talk, so they can air some things out. I hope that their relationship can be resolved sometime during the third book, although I get the feeling it's probably not going to help at all. I get the feeling that something will explode big time.

Also, Trey and Braden's relationship is still in the "will they, or won't they', and I just feel the need to knock Trey upside his head once in a while. As soon as they seem to be getting closer, something seems to happen, and well, you can see where that thought was going.

One person who I was excited to see more of was Drew. He is still sarcastic and running his mouth off, but he also seems to be a loyal friend. I don't know what he's going to do in the end considering the fact that he hates both of the people in the feud, but I'm going to love finding out.

In this sequel, we get to see a little bit of Jade and Riley. We even get to learn a little bit more about the Drew and Jade thing, So I'm be interested to see what happens with these two in the future.

So in this book girls are disappearing in town and Braden instigates why and who. Also more titbits of his family past are coming out and I feel like in the third book its all going to come to a head.

Overall, I gave this book a 4/5 stars, because it was a page turner, and we get to see new interesting characters come into the story. People's loyalties are being tested, new alliances are being made while others seem to be breaking, and some of the things that happen will just leave you like O_O for quite a while.

Book Review: The Eye Of Minds by James Dashner

Michael is a gamer. And like most gamers, he almost spends more time on the VirtNet than in the actual world. The VirtNet offers total mind and body immersion, and it’s addictive. Thanks to technology, anyone with enough money can experience fantasy worlds, risk their life without the chance of death, or just hang around with Virt-friends. And the more hacking skills you have, the more fun. Why bother following the rules when most of them are dumb, anyway?

But some rules were made for a reason. Some technology is too dangerous to fool with. And recent reports claim that one gamer is going beyond what any gamer has done before: he’s holding players hostage inside the VirtNet. The effects are horrific—the hosta

ges have all been declared brain-dead. Yet the gamer’s motives are a mystery.

The government knows that to catch a hacker, you need a hacker.
And they’ve been watching Michael. They want him on their team.
But the risk is enormous. If he accepts their challenge, Michael will need to go off the VirtNet grid. There are back alleys and corners in the system human eyes have never seen and predators he can’t even fathom—and there’s the possibility that the line between game and reality will be blurred forever.

Description taken from Goodreads.
 http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/16279856-the-eye-of-minds

Micheal: I liked him a lot, He was laid back and like to do what a lot of us do, Hang out and eat with friends. Except he like to do it the VirtNet. Yes, you can eat food there. He's a little addicted to VirtNet and spends a considerably amount of time there. The only one he knows who spends more time there is his friend Bryson.

In the beginning of this book I questioned some of the choices made but I was able to look past them and enjoy the story. Michael is dedicated but starts asking the smart question a little to late. How much is he willing to sacrifice? And how will he react to the truth once revealed?

Now Michael has two friends joing him for this journey. Bryson who doesnt seem to have a filter from brain to mouth is someone who spends almost all there time in VirtNet. He's a little cocky throughout the book but I think he learns he's not exactly top dog thoughout the story. Then there's Sara: who is the one who keeps the two boys in line a little. Sort of like a mother figure and when there being oblivious, point out the obvious to them.

The friendship between the three is nice usually easy going  and when horrible stuff happend they bonded together. Just because this doesn't take place in the real world doesn't mean there isn't any real danger. One of the most dangerous thing about the Cyber-Terrorist Kaine is that when he kills people in the VirtNet he's killing them in real life to.Which isn't something someone should be able to do. Plus there's the psychological damage they probably wont be getting over anytime soon.

I felt at times that we didn't get to know enough about Sarah and Bryson. I feel like Michael's character overshadowed the two of them a lot of times. I know he's the main character but it would have been nice to learn more about the other two. Maybe it will be different in the next book. Also they've never meet in real life so I wonder if the dynamic of the relationship's will change once that happens. Who Knows.

Despite all that I have high hopes for the second book.Reading about these three hacker friends hired to do something that the VirtNet security couldn't do was a real page turner and Kaine, Well you'll have to read to find out all about his sinister deeds. The sequels are definitely on my Pre-Order list. I gave this book a 4/5 stars and look forward to seeing how everything plays out in the upcoming books.

*This book comes October 8. 2013.
*I want to thank my friend Brad who got this for me when he went to ALA. He to has a Blog and YouTube so I'll leave links and you guys should definitely check him out.

Book Review: Witch Eyes by Scott Tracey

Wow, Where to start? The Cover Perhaps?  I personally love it, and it actually has something to do with the book *Gasp* who would have thought that would be possible these days.

Moving on,

This book is about Braden a 17 year old boy who has a rare, legendary power that he calls "Witch Eyes". Witch Eye's give's a person the ability to see the world unfiltered. They can and I Quote: "Soak up everything like a sponge, See everything that ever happened in a place, to a person". There's more to the power but I think you guys got the point.

Braden who lives with his Uncle John, sets off by himself to learn more about his past and it land him in the City of Belle Dam. Where he is caught between two feuding witch families. Catherine Lansing and Jason Thorpe.

Braden who is revealed to Jason's son has been crushing on this boy Trey who turns out to be Catherine son.

Romeo and Juliet? We can only hope that their fates wont be as tragic. Especially considering Braden may be destined to kill him.

Moving on once again.

With all the lies, manipulation, and secrets going on. Who will come up on top? and Who is the driving force behind it all? Read to find out.

Braden: Is always on the going from the first moment he sets foot in this town. He wants to find out why he's drawn to this town and doesn't let much, Except from Trey, distract him from his goal. I liked that because I felt that characters forget how much danger they're in and do incredibly stupid and sloppy things. I didnt feel that way with Braden.

Uncle John: He raised Braden but his secrets are vast and I we only see the tip of the ice berg where his character is concerned. I would love to find out more about him in the future.

Trey: I like him and didn't like him all at once.Misguided fool.

There are of course a few more characters but I'll let you guys read and find them out for yourself.

I like the fact that while's there's romance its not the center of the story.Though I do hope for more romance in the future but I don't want a "Love Triangle" of any kind.

Overall I loved this book  and I didnt give any ppoilers despite what it may seem like. It was an easy and faced paced read. I give it a 4/5 stars and I look forward to the 2 sequels.

Book Review: Insanity by Lauren Hammond

Insanity follows Adelaide Carmichael AKA Addy as she is brought into the Oakhill Institute kicking and screaming. She doesn't remember much of what happened. The only thing she remembers is that her and her boyfriend Damien Allen where in love and supposed to run away with one another and yet she ended up here. The question is Why?

This Cover is amazing.

So first off we have the main character Addy who is unreliable to say the least. I mean how can we now whats going if she doesn't. It's what makes the book interesting, piercing together whats more likely to be real and whats not.

We follow Addy in the time before coming to the Institute where she is experiencing first love with Damien. We follow the progression of their relationship as well as the deteriorating relationship she has with her father.

I liked the relationship between Addy and Damien. It was lovely and sweet. Though I felt at times we didn't get to learn more about Damien. Which was a shame, but then you have to remember that this is ultimately Addy's story.

We see the obstacles in there relationship from his mother to her drunken and abusive father.

Following their love story was interesting though I think we all know that it probably didn't end well just for the fact that she'd currently residing in Oakhill.

As we follow her in the past to see what lead to her to be locked up in the first place we also spend time with her in the institution in present day. We see how she interacts with the other members of Oakhill. We see her therapy sessions and her trying to get back her memory. All while trying to escape from the institute which has more secrets then she can ever imagine and a danger that's all to real

I found the story to be an interesting story about the complexity of the human mind and what it does to help preserve and help ones sanity.

This is the first book in a trilogy and I'm so excited to see what happens next.

Overall I gave this book a 5/5 stars.
It's currently $0.99 on Amazon Kindle

Book Review: Strangelets by Michelle Gagnon

GoodReads Description:
17-year-old Sophie lies on her deathbed in California, awaiting the inevitable loss of her battle with cancer…
17-year-old Declan stares down two armed thugs in a back alley in Galway, Ireland…
17-year-old Anat attempts to traverse a booby-trapped tunnel between Israel and Egypt…

All three strangers should have died at the exact same moment, thousands of miles apart. Instead, they awaken together in an abandoned hospital—only to discover that they’re not alone. Three other teens from different places on the globe are trapped with them. Somebody or something seems to be pulling the strings. With their individual clocks ticking, they must band together if they’re to have any hope of surviving.

Soon they discover that they've been trapped in a future that isn't of their making: a deadly, desolate world at once entirely familiar and utterly strange. Each teen harbors a secret, but only one holds the key that could get them home. As the truth comes to light through the eyes of Sophie, Declan, and Anat, the reader is taken on a dark and unforgettable journey into the hearts of teens who must decide what to do with a second chance at life.

Description Taken From Goodreads.com
http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/15798830-strangelets

The story alternates between 3 points of view:

Sophie: Who was on her death-bed at the time and had already resigned herself to death. Has a tenuous lease on life. In the course of the story I feel like she gets a new lease on life and kind of comes into her own despite the dangers that await around every corner.

Then there's,

Declan: The classic bad boy with a heart of gold, he's a smart talker and someone who other people natural gravitate to and yet makes a lot of stupid decisions which is why he ended up in the hospital to began with.

and then there's,

Anat: Who's harsh and suspicious of everything and everyone. Didn't quite like her in the beginning but you grow to understand that the life she grew up in made her like this.

Over all I really liked this story it was interesting to see how people from different walks of life react to this given situation and One of the things that I really liked about this book is how well the characters were fleshed out and I felt that I really got to know them but I also found the story line fairly predictable and it reminded me of a T.V. from back in the 90's but I do like the direction the Author took with it and the Journey that each character had to take to coming to terms with what is exactly is going on

I like the ending because it gives you enough closure and yet I feel like if there are sequels in the future it wouldn't feel forced.

In the end I gave this book a 4/5 stars.

*I received this book from Netgalley in exchange for an Honest review.
